About Us
Knit-On Australia is a family-owned Melbourne knitwear business, founded by Simon in 2014 and run today by Simon and Racheli. It began as a small kiosk at the Spencer Street Outlet. Simon had helped his father sell jumpers at markets from a young age, and the kiosk grew into two established stores, one in the Melbourne CBD and one in Ripponlea.
What we sell and why
We specialise in knitwear made from natural fibres. House-brand knitwear is usually superfine 18.5 micron Australian merino, chosen for its softness, warmth without weight, breathability and versatility, and because it layers easily. Our cashmere is sourced from Mongolia and chosen for quality, softness and durability.
Those two fibres set the price ladder. Cashmere is the premium option for softness, warmth and a luxurious feel. Merino and cashmere blends balance cashmere softness against merino durability and practicality. One hundred percent merino is the versatile everyday choice. Medium weight wool sits alongside them where warmth, durability and a substantial knit matter more than fineness.

Alongside the house label we stock brands selected on knitwear quality, materials, design, fit and value. Ansett for classic, practical, timeless knitwear. Bridge & Lord for classic styling and reliable comfort. Fields for comfortable fabrics and wearable styles. Sovrano for quality materials and a comfortable fit. Crossley for a modern look with comfort. Beatrice for feminine, elegant, polished pieces. Rich & Royal for contemporary European styling.

The business is KNIT ON ! PTY LTD, ACN 661 896 948, ABN 63 661 896 948. Simon founded it in 2014 and now runs it with Racheli Gabizon. Our stores are Knit-On Melbourne CBD, 520 Bourke Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, and Knit-On Ripponlea, 79 Glen Eira Road, Ripponlea VIC 3185. Both open 10am to 6pm every day; public holiday hours vary. How the guides are written
Racheli Gabizon writes our knitwear guides. Before any guide is published, every figure is checked against the source named for it. When we describe how a fibre behaves, such as its warmth or breathability, the sentence either cites The Woolmark Company or CSIRO, or states plainly that the observation comes from our own shop experience. The knitwear we write about is the knitwear we sell.
